This former coconut plantation boasts one of the top beaches, not just in the state, but also in the country. There are more than two miles of "lagoon-style" beach, with calm water protected by a constantly shifting offshore sandbar. The Family Amusement Center features a restored 1949 carousel left behind by the old Crandon Zoo. Hours: 8 a.m. to sundown, carousel open until 5 p.m. (Sunset)
Admission: Free, but parking is $5 per car, $10 for RVs and buses. There are fees for some amusement center activities. Cabana rentals are $20/day plus tax and a $10 refundable key deposit.
